About Working Out CxO
Working Out CxO is where leadership, technology, and health collide. Built for C-suite executives and the leaders who aspire to be one. I'm Jeff Kuehn. By day, I'm the CTO of a defense contractor in Annapolis, Maryland, where I lead a team of 34 engineers and technologists delivering IT solutions across enterprise networking, cybersecurity, collaboration, data center, and AI for the U.S. Federal Government. By night (and early morning, and weekends), I'm building WOCxO into something bigger. Three times a month, I appear on the Fox 5 Plus GTV Series breaking down the topics that matter most to today's business leaders, from AI strategy to executive wellness to the technology reshaping our world.
Why “Working Out CxO”?
The name says it all. It’s a triple meaning:
- Working out the challenges of being a CxO. The hard problems, the decisions that keep you up at night, the strategy behind building and leading at scale.
- Working out your body. Because you can’t lead at your best if you’re running on fumes, skipping meals, and ignoring your health.
- Working out the technology. Making sense of what matters, cutting through the hype, and understanding what will actually move your organization forward.
Lead. Learn. Lift. That’s not just a tagline. It’s a daily practice.
My Story
A few years ago, at 39, I was in the worst shape of my life. Running a rapidly growing technology organization, raising two daughters, and living on conference room pizza and airport food. I decided I’d be healthier at 40 than I was at 20. I lost 75 pounds, broke my high school PRs in bench, squat, and deadlift, and discovered that the same discipline that builds companies builds bodies.
I started this blog to share that journey and to document the lessons I’ve learned leading a team from 12 people to over 100, navigating the complexities of federal contracting, and building technology practices across networking, security, collaboration, data center, and AI.
